Sustainable Luxury

Balbinny is a development of luxury self-catering accommodation, set on a family farm, allowing guests to make full use of the countryside. Built with corrugated roofs and recycled stone from the previous steadings, luxury is combined with a sense of history. Balbinny benefits from 180-degree views across the river South Esk towards the Angus Glens, and onto the Cairngorms while renewable energy is utilised to provide sustainable bespoke accommodation and leisure facilities within the idyllic countryside.

Local Area

Set in the centre of Angus, Balbinny is situated in rolling farmland between the market towns of Forfar and Brechin, which provide local amenities. Ideally placed to enjoy the beautiful and often diserted beaches at Lunan Bay and St. Cyrus as well as exploring the Angus Glens after which the Brochs and Steadings are named. From Glen Isla in the west to Glen Esk in the east there is much to explore.
Further afield, the Cities of Dundee, Perth, Aberdeen and St Andrews are all within an hours drive while the capital Edinburgh, can be reached in an hour and a half.

Although set in rural Angus, Balbinny is easily accessible, providing country living with none of the drawbacks of isolation.

Sense of History

Angus is an area steeped in history. Ancient Pictish stones can be found along the footpaths at Balbinny and the ruins of a Roman Fort are within walking distance. Branching out, Glamis Castle, the chilhood home of the Queen Mother and the impressive House of Dun can both be reached within 20 minutes. Dundee, the City of Discovery with it's impressive industrial history has recently been chosen to host the new V and A museum. Moving further afield; the famous Dunnotar Castle can be reached in 40 minutes. Balbinny provides an excellent base to explore the rich history and culture of the North East of Scotland.

Activities

Angus and the surrounding area, is home to more than 22 golf courses, two of which are Open Courses, situated in St. Andrews and Carnoustie, all within easy driving distance. But there is more to be found than golf: The beach at Lunan Bay offers (booking required) land yachting, beach kayaking, family days and much more. Skiing can be reached within an hour at Glenshee in the winter, while excellent walking and traditional country pursuits can be enjoyed in the Angus Glens. Furthermore, Balbinny overlooks the River South Esk, providing excellent salmon and trout fishing. From golf to beaches, and skiing to country pursuits; Angus has something for everybody.
